My Week in Pictures

Pelican & Cabin Cruiser

Spending time on the boat is such fun. John's favorite thing to do is go out a few miles and float in the Gulf of Mexico. We often take lunch and I catch up on reading and listen to my I-Pod. If it is windy and wavy, we usually anchor off the south end of Lido Key, where is it almost always very calm. This area is a natural park and the beach has deep water (great for boats) almost right up to the beach. When the gulf is warm, we put out the back anchor too and walk on the beach or snorkel or just float along near the boat. Manatees regularly go through this area and we have been close enough to touch them.

We love to help people sell their homes, but in this market it is difficult. I feel badly when their house does not sell. But, when you look at the entire neighborhood and there is nothing pending, they begin to see that it is not anything that they can change or that we can fix. We look forward to a normal real estate market. That will help all of the businesses that are struggling from the slow down. From the stores that sell boxes, appliances, landscaping, pianos to furniture and blinds, people not moving is hurting the economy.

Emma & Elliott

They are such fun! They watched TV until dinner. John made chili and after dinner, while the guys watched the football game and Leigh caught up on The Apprentice, Emma and Elliott and I worked puzzles and set up domino rows for Elliott to knock down. It is fun to play games with them but I am looking forward to warmer weather,  swimming in the pool, boat rides and having dinner on the lanai again.

Our Fly in Neighborhood Listing Palm Beach

Diane organized a brokers' tour and we visited homes in Aero Club. The lots are an acre and the residents here have their hangar right on their property, often attached to their home. The homes back up to the landing strips. Diane contacted the agents with listings in Aero Club and  the ones that wanted to participate  are doing all they can to get the listings sold. We filled out comment / suggestion sheets for each house. Just one idea or little thing that should be changed or fixed can make a sale happen. If some owners only knew what some agents do to work so hard to get their home sold. Also, if some owners only knew what their listing agent does not do that they should be doing...

Sarasota Mennonites

The Mennonites live in the area around Beneva and Bahia Vista. The married men have beards, so it is easy to tell the single men. Many ride bicycles but there are not any horse and buggies. Thank goodness, that would be extremely dangerous with our busy streets. They use electricity and some drive. Some stay year-round in Sarasota and some come down only for the season.

I know; a lot of pictures of this fountain but I found it so interesting. This is something that I love about Sarasota; there is always something to discover and always something fun to do! One of my goals for the new year is to find/visit/see/learn something new every week about Sarasota.
